Call for Art: Electrical Box Wraps in Alexandria, MN

We are transforming electrical boxes around Alexandria into works of art—and your design could be featured on the next one!

Artist Compensation: $400 per selected artwork (up to 4 artworks may be displayed on a single box).
Exhibition: Wrapped boxes will be displayed at sponsoring businesses throughout Alexandria.
Submission Requirements: All design entries must be submitted with a completed artist application (form below).
Artwork Eligibility: Artists may submit new original designs or propose the use of existing original work. Existing works must not currently be displayed within 30 miles of Alexandria.
Selection Process: All submissions will be reviewed by the City of Alexandria, Alexandria Light and Power, and The Arts Initiative committee. Approved designs will be included in an online design catalog, from which sponsors will select the final artwork.

When submitting your design application, you confirm the following:

You are the original creator of the design and have not copied anyone else’s original work.

Your design does not infringe on anyone else’s intellectual property or copyrights.

If anyone else has contributed to your design you have obtained a signed, written agreement from that person assigning all of their rights in the contribution to you.

Your artwork is not already publicly displayed within 30 miles of Alexandria

By Submitting this application electronically, you are indicating your understanding that, while you retain the copyright and other intellectual property rights relating to your design, you are granting the sponsor the rights to the completed artwork and perpetual rights to use images of the completed artwork as they see fit.

If you are submitting a digital image, you are granting all rights and permission to use the image to print and apply as a vinyl wrap on an electrical box. If your design is selected by a sponsor, you will be paid a stipend of $400 which includes the cost of your materials. Payment will be received when the project is completed.

You will be acknowledged as the artist on project signage and in other publications or online.

You acknowledge and agree that, due to the nature of public art, the Arts Initiative, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, City of Alexandria, Alexandria Light and Power, business sponsor, property owner, and project manager will not be held liable in the event of vandalism or damage. If the artist is unable to repair any damage that may occur, the Arts Initiative shall have the right to make repairs, even if the repairs would create a distortion or modification under VARA, 17USC 106a.

I agree to all terms listed on this application. I certify that all statements made in this application are true. I agree to release any claims against the Arts Initiative, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, City of Alexandria, Alexandria Light and Power, business owner, property owner, and project manager that may arise regarding my artwork. I have read all the requirements for the Alexandria Electrical Box Project.
